Maggie Carey is a writer, director and washed-up Division I soccer player.

Maggie Carey is a director and writer known for her debut feature The To Do List, starring Aubrey Plaza and Bill Hader, a love letter to her awkward, boy-crazy high school years.
Since then, she has directed acclaimed comedies including Adults for FX, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Barry, and Silicon Valley for HBO, and Never Have I Ever, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Love for Netflix. She has also directed episodes of Netflix’s You and Peacock’s Twisted Metal, based on the classic video game and starring Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz. Her broadcast credits include The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, Mr. Mayor, and A.P. Bio.
Originally from Boise, Idaho, Maggie played Division I soccer at The University of Montana before earning her MFA in Film from the University of Texas at Austin. She got her start in comedy performing sketch and improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York.
